Tell us your origin story:
Ever since I did my first dive in a freezing cold lake in Wisconsin, I seriously thought I’d never go scuba diving again. Boy was I wrong, back in 2020 I was given the opportunity to work in Thailand. On many holiday weekends, I ventured down to an island called Koh Tao where I was able to rekindle my love for scuba diving. I am extremely thankful that I made that decision because the ocean offers so many things that not many people will ever get the chance to see.
What caused you to make the leap from amateur to dive professional?
In 2021, I decided to professionally put those diving skills to work and achieved my Divemaster certification with PADI because I also wanted to share those essential diving and life skills to those who were growing the same curiosity as I did.
Favorite Class to Teach?
Probably fish identity – It really makes me happy when divers are aware of what they are actually looking for. Not just cruising through a big head of coral reefs and seeing whatever while diving, but actually taking their time to find the little critter and excitingly explaining to me what it looked like and it’s telling me about what characteristics it had.
Favorite Dive destination?
Koh Lipe, Thailand – Gorgeous soft corals in pink, purple, and white!
What is your most beloved critter to spot under the waves?
All kinds of clown fish! They are so small, but feisty and so cute.
What is your “must have” piece of dive equipment?
CAMERA! – OMG there was a dive that I regretted not bringing it with me. You just never know what you may see in the water, so I always bring a camera with and it’s rigged up!
Favorite non diving activities?
Pickleball, hiking, cooking, skiing, snowboarding, and spending time with my dog, friends and family!
Favorite post-dive treat or beverage?
Recess peanut butter cups & a nice cuppa tea
