Heather Goodwin-Robinson

Tell us your origin story!
I started teaching back in 1984 with another training agency. Crossed over to PADI in 1986. Jacques Cousteau was my inspiration.

What caused you to make the leap from amateur to dive professional?
First dive store I worked for had a contract with the Canadian military at the Esquimalt Naval Base. I wanted to be able to help certify the men and women before they were deployed to other stations around the world. At that time the industry only recognized recreational diving certifications for renting equipment and filling tanks.

Instructor Development of all levels.

Favorite dive destination?
Solomon Islands

What is your most beloved critter to spot under the waves?
Octopus

What is your “must have” piece of dive equipment?
A great regulator and computer, with a backup computer.

Favorite non-diving activity?
Hiking.

Favorite post-dive treat or beverage?
Protein Shake

Any advice you’d like to offer divers new and old?
If you believe in what you are doing, offering, teaching, you will have others interested in doing what you do.

Heather is the Course Director for One World Dive & Travel, teaching instructor level courses and preparing students for the PADI Instructor Examination.
